What Does Your Day Look Like When You’re Having a Psoriatic Arthritis Flare?
Life During a Psoriatic Arthritis Flare
When the symptoms of psoriatic arthritis flare up, your life might have to slow down — and that’s okay. A flare “puts things on hold a little bit,” says Deeanne Quist, a My Take Psoriatic Arthritis contributor.
For Quist, even tasks like moving a computer mouse can be difficult, and she finds herself cutting her exercise sessions short. “I do some hand cycling, and that’s a lot more of a full-body workout than I had anticipated,” she says. “During a flare … I have to shorten the workout.”
Mollie Carman, another My Take Psoriatic Arthritis contributor, also may skip a workout during a flare. Although she tries to walk every day, when she’s in the middle of a particularly bad flare, she says that she’ll stay inside and use a heating pad or ice therapy instead.
“I really take it easy [on bad days],” she says.
